If we can both close our eyes, and just dream...

Hello lovelies,

It is the start of a new week again! last week of summer for me actually and then it is back to university. I am so excited though as I am going away on Wednesday and coming back Monday and I am hoping the weather will cooperate so I can relax and enjoy my time and recharge.

Today I want to share an outfit with you that in my opinion is pretty and feminine but you can always let me know what you think of it ;)

yeah the dress made me that happy so I did some of that....

So I ended up looking like belt slid down from all the jumping and running around hehe.

The lace dress did not come with lining and I did not have a slip at home, so I just wore a tank top and a body con skirt under to give the illusion of a slip :)

Lace Dress: Free People

Black Tank: H&M

Black Skirt: Aritzia

Shoes: Aldo

Purse: Guess

Bracelets: Local handmade and Rainbow Jade

Have a wonderful day!

Hello lovelies,

How is your Saturday? mine is sunny but filled with studying. Taking a little break to do this post, which I was originally going to do on Monday but I was too excited, so I had to do it today haha!

I wore this outfit to run some errands and do a bit of shopping at Yorkdale mall. I went there to check out JCrew, which opened recently, for some fall items. I loved many of their items but they were way too over priced. Tommy came to the rescue though and I ended up with two gorgeous sweaters, I will share them with you soon. For those of you in Toronto, Tommy has so many gorgeous sweaters right now and they are on sale for 30% off so it is definitely worth checking out!

I was misinformed, they told me it was nap time! lol actually this is the only photo you can see my purse properly in and it's just a funny photo of me so thought I would add it in!

My hair says hello too! lol I don't own my hair, it owns me.

When I put these pants on, I automatically become all happy and giggly, I can't help it. I debated buying them when I saw them in Zara a while back, as they are so out of my comfort zone, but I'm very glad I did!

Skinnies: Zara

Top: H&M

Sandals: Zara

Purse: Danier Leather

Sun glasses: Ray Ban folding Wayfarer

Bracelets: local hand made bangles and my bluma project bracelet.
Enjoy your day :)

Stripes and Coral!

Hello lovelies,

How is everyone's Friday? Fun and Fabulous? I certainly hope so! I did some shopping in the past two days that are for Fall and now I am totally excited for the cooler weather. I did however manage to also find a pair of jean shorts for a little trip I'm going on next week which was a challenge let me tell you. There were either none in stores or the stores that had them did not have them in my size. Crisis averted however so all is good again :)

Today I want to share a little outfit I put together which was inspired by items from the Windsor store. I found this website after watching Carly Cristman and Ingrid talk about it on their youtube channels.

1. Windsor Blue 3/4 Sleeve Cropped Top

2. Joe's Jeans Elsa Cuffed Shorts

3. Forever21 Basketweave Sandals

4. H&M Cognac Brown Bag

5. Windsor Brass Multi Row Bracelet

Hope you liked it :)

Have a great day!

Aug 24, 2011

Hello lovelies,

How is everyone's week so far? well we're half way done so hooray for that!

Today I want to share an outfit I wore yesterday, with my favourite top and shoes. This outfit was all about comfort since I was going to be doing a bit of running around at work and still wanted to look cute!

I absolutely love this purple top, purple is actually my favourite colour so it makes this top even more special. It is a rather sheer top so for work purposes I wore a black tank top under.

Tunic: Zara (last year)

Shorts: Forever21 jeans cut into shorts by me :)

Tank: Garage

Shoes: White Converse

Bracelets: My Kyeh bracelet from here and my Madewell cuff bracelet.
Hope you liked this outfit because I loved it :)

have a beautiful day!

Summer please! won't you stay a while?

Hello lovelies,

Hope your Tuesday is going well! for me it actually feels a bit like a Monday but a large cup of coffee is quickly fixing it! haha. Spoken like a true coffee addict.

If you follow me on twitter, you will have seen my tweets about how much I am loving StyleMint. The site showcases t-shirts and shirts designed by none other than Marykate and Ashley Olsen. I have always loved Ashley and her sense of style, so when I heard about this site and that the twins themselves give styling tips for these shirts I was very excited. That excitement however did not last very long when I found out that they do not deliver to Canada.

Should have learnt my lesson when the same thing happened to me with JewelMint. Oh wells I guess I will just keep waiting and hoping some day they will ship here. Until then here is a little outfit I put together featuring my favourite pieces from StyleMint and JewelMint.

1. StyleMint a full sentence t-shirt

2. Forever21 High Waist Lace Shorts

3. Zara Embellished Drawstring Bag

4. Belle Sigerson Morrison Suede Open-Toe Booties

5. JewelMint Astoria Necklace

If you live in the US, you can sign up for free and every thing on the website is $29.99. Every month, according to your profile, they will send you different styles of shirts that matche the information you entered in your profile! The same idea applies to JewelMint as well :)

What do you think of this outfit? yes or no?

not going to lie I am actually kind of in love with it.

Have a great day :)

Going Paraben Free: My Experience So Far.

Hello lovelies,

How is your Monday? hope you are having a great start to your week!

Today's post although is make up related, is a bit more serious. I am going to talk about parabens, what they are and why they are bad for you.

So what are parabens? They are essentially a group of chemicals that are used as cheap preservatives in cosmetics and also other body care products, such as shampoos, body washes, lotions, etc.

Although not directly linked to breast cancer, there was a study published in the Journal of Applied Toxicology, which found parabens in 18 out of the 20 samples of breast tissue from cancer patients. However they did not claim a direct connection between the two.

I won't go into to much of the biology here as it can get a bit confusing and the details are very specific. What I did read however made me want to take the plunge into paraben free living.

I am not doing this post to scare anyone, I did however find myself wanting to share this with as many people around me as I can. Although I did know that there were many ingredients and chemicals in the make up that I used I never actually looked into what they were until recently. I was watching some youtube videos, as I actually find makeup videos calming (call me crazy lol) and I saw that one of my favourite youtubers MissJenFABULOUS had posted a video about parabens and after watching that I started to do more research about it. You should definitely check out her video as she did a great job and has a great amount of information in that video. After watching that I found another youtuber who has decided to go paraben free and she does great videos about products that are paraben free. Her channel is PirouetteMakeup I love this girl, her videos are great and she is also a supporter of cruelty free make up so definitely check out her channel as well.

So to start my paraben free experience, I did not go crazy and throw everything out. I did a post previously about how much I love Bath&Body works and how their lotions are amazing and they still truly are but unfortunately they do contain parabens. Because of my eczema I use a large amount of body lotion every day, so sadly I will not be using the remainder of mine. I have 4 of them and I have not even used half of each bottle. I will not be throwing them away however I will either give them to others that do not care about parabens or sell them to anyone that would like them.

So finding a paraben free body lotion was first on my list.

Burt's Bees naturally Nourishing Milk & Honey Body Lotion ($12.97)

Burt's Bees was the one brand that kept popping up when I was doing research about natural products and their products had amazing reviews so I went to Walmart and this is the one I found. It smells amazing and feels great on my skin. The one thing that I do not like about this lotion is that I have to rub it in for a while before it absorbs. I can however live with that for now and will try another one of their lotions with a more liquid formula after I finish this one.

Next up was deodorant. This is another item I use daily once or more so I wanted to replace mine with a paraben and aluminum free one.

The Body Shop DeoDry Dry-Effect Deodarant ($5.00)

I found out about this from one of Nika's videos, so I thought I would check it out for myself. I also picked one up for The Boy and my brother. This one smells really nice, it's light and floral but still a clean scent. So far I really like it and it does a good job.

I also picked up a few make up items that I use daily.

Physicians Formula: Organic Wear Jumbo Lash Mascara ($14.97)

I have one word for this mascara, AMAZING! the wand is very similar to the LashBlast one from CoverGirl. and it makes my lashes look amazingly long and full. I have been wearing it for a week now and I can tell you that it does not flake at all so it has great staying power. It is a bit pricey but is still around the same price as other drug store mascaras like the loreal ones which I had been using.

Physicians Formula: Organic Wear Bronzer ($20.87)

This bronzer is pretty good. It is very light so it will work well on fair skin as a bronzer and on darker skin tones it will probably work well as a powder or as a highlighter. I quiet like it as I have very fair skin so this works well as a bronzer for me for a bit of colour for daily use. If I did want a darker bronzer though for a night out maybe this will not work very well and I will be looking into their other bronzers.

Physicians Formula: Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Gel CreamLiner ($13.97)

I am a big fan of gel liners. A week before my paraben free kick I got pink eye from a bad chest infection so I had to throw out my MAC blacktrack gel liner and some other eye make up. So this was the perfect time to look for a paraben free one. This is the one I picked out and it is the one for green eyes since I have green eyes. Every pack comes in three colours that are meant to enhance different eye colours. Mine is in black, a plum colour and also a green. I have used the black one so far and it is very dark and very creamy which makes it very easy to work with. I used the brush that came in the package and it is an ok one. I am waiting for my sigma angled brush to get here so until then this brush will do. This liner only smudged a bit on my botton lash line but that was after hours of dancing and sweating (gross I know) but my MAC one did the same so that is not a problem for me.

BALMSHELL lipgloss: Darling You Look Fabulous ($20)

Last but definitely not the least is my new super cute lipgloss from BALMSHELL. As I was searching for paraben free lip glosses I came across their website. It is actually a fun and interactive website and the swatches on there are pretty accurate. I bought mine from Shoppers Drug Mart but I believe they are also available at Sephora. The company was started by twin Canadian sisters so that is always a plus as I try to support Canadian businesses whenever I can. I really love this colour it is a gorgeous darker pink. The gloss feels very nice on the lips after application, it is not sticky and makes my lips very soft. The other night I went out for dinner, I put this lip gloss on in the car a good 15 minutes before arriving at the restaurant, I had water, wine, dinner and after 3 hours I was drinking coffee and when I looked down at my coffee cup there was a lip gloss imprint on the rim. Can you say WOW!! I was so surprised as I have never experienced that with lipgloss before. This product definitely gets a 10 out of 10 from me. I am in love and wish I could have bought more colours the price held me back but I will certainly check them out in the near future.

I did not buy foundation as I already have the BareMinerals foundation but in the winter I will look into a liquid one.

Here are my products all happy together :) You can also see the colour of the lipgloss a bit better!

I hope this post is helpful and informative. There are great resources about parabens online so check them out. A big thanks to Nika and Jenny for doing their great videos and inspiring me to start this. Another great and informative blog is Paraben Free Princess she does not blog regularly now but she has an amazing archive of posts about products you can read.

Although going paraben free is an expensive experience specially at the beginning, in my opinion it is worth it, as I would rather be safe than sorry. I also will not be purchasing some of those items again any time soon as they will last me a long time. I will do more posts about this as I continue to find more products, so I will definitely share them on here for those that are interested :)
Have yourselves a beautiful day!

Confession time!

Hello lovelies,

Hope you're having an amazing Sunday like me. My mom had a big party last night so I was running around like a mad woman all night but that does not mean I did not get some major dancing in too ;) It is not a persian party without tons of food and dancing! So today is all about being in recovery mode.

Today I wanted to make a little confession....I listen to country music. There I said it! When I say country I guess I mean the more modern pop-country aka Taylor Swift. But this post is not about her!

A while back I was reading the lovely Caitlin's blog over at Candyfloss and Persie and she had a music video in the post I was reading, I listened to this song once and there began my addiction to this song. I blast it in the mornings and dance around to it while I am getting ready and it is so much fun! and so is the music video actually.

So here is the song, I hope you enjoy :)

Hello lovelies,

Just a quick post to let you know that I have moved over to WordPress. I have been having problems with blogger for a while and I have heard from many that WordPress is amazing so I switched. I'm still polishing it a bit but here is the link! I am in love with this platform right now! see you all there :)

Have a beautiful day!

Love me some Lace!

Hello lovelies,

How is your Friday? Beautiful I hope! I will be studying all day and then a dinner date with The Boy for his Birthday!!, so it will be a good Friday!
Today I want to share an outfit I put together so here it is :)

I put this outfit together around the lace dress which is from this super cute and super adorable (and affordable) online boutique called Lily Boutique. You should definitely check it out because when I say that website is filled with adorableness I am in no way exaggerating. There are so many pretty pieces and my wish list from the boutique is rather long. I came across this website a while back actually and I check it regularly which makes me wonder why I have not done this post earlier! well no matter here it is now :)
2. A Girl's Next Best Friend Date Night Cross Body Bag
3. Forever21 Kim Platform Pumps
4. Accessorize Pretty Love Ring

I have been wanting that ring for a while now but as I mentioned in my All for a great cause post I am holding back on spending on frivolities, so I guess the ring will just have to wait for a little while.

What do you think of this outfit?
Have yourselves a beautiful Friday :)

My August Luxe Box and DIY!

Hello lovelies,

How is everyone's Thursday going? any plans for Friday and the weekend? fun things I hope!
Today I have my August Luxe Box review and the little fun project I did with the box this month :)

So first let's take a look at the goodies that came in the box!

1. Pur Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup
This is meant to be foundation, powder and concealer all in one and also has SPF 15. It also contains Vitamin E and shea butter which I find rather nice actually. Today is the second day I am trying this product so I haven't used it long enough to give a proper review but so far I like it. I do not usually use heavy coverage foundations and have been using tinted moisturizer and Bare Minerals so I like the light coverage this mineral make up gives. This is however not for those that want full coverage.
I received the shade Blush Medium which is a tad bit dark for me but it's still ok when I use a light hand with it. I also love that I got this around the time that I started going paraben free!

2. Lip Plumping Treatment: City Lips by City Cosmetics
This product includes Oligopeptide technology to increase collagen production in your lips. It claims to increase lip volume and decrease wrinkles and lines in and around the lips. I tried this product twice and it didn't really increase my lip volume but I'm not sure if it is meant to do that over time. I also did not like how my lips felt after I put this on, they felt very dry. However it is a very shiny, clear gloss so it can be used over lipstick for extra shine.

3. Proclaim: Cocoa Butter Hand and Body Lotion
This is actually a very nice product. It moisturizes without making your skin feel greasy so that's always a plus, at least for me! It also smells like chocolate when you put it on and I love that about it.

4. Calvin Klein: Forbidden Euphoria Fragrance
This sample actually came in the form of a roller ball which I absolutely love and appreciate. I am very bad at explaining scents but I do know that I really like it! haha I know that doesn't help. It does smell very citrus-y and it is a very refreshing perfume. I am not the biggest fan of the original Euphoria but I really like this one.

As a bonus Loose Button was kind to us and included a pair of the most adorable and feminine earrings, handmade by Sheyna Jewelry! You should definitely check out the website as there are some very cute, and unique pieces of jewelry.

So thank you Loose Button! I love my August Luxe Box.

So now onto what I did with my box rather than just throwing it out since these boxes are actually very sturdy!

I made a little bulletin board for the area right above my desk! I cheated a little this time and used extra material too. I used some extra ribbon I had and some pins so I could hang little trinkets from it too. I also cut out a photo from a magazine and wrote the little motto I try to live by "Work hard and be nice to others :) "

One little tip I have for those of you that want to try something similar to this is add a piece of fabric instead of the magazine cut out, it would add a nice touch.

Hope you enjoyed this post!
Have a gorgeous day :)

All for a great cause!

Hello lovelies,

How is everyone's week so far? Fabulous I hope!
Today while my post is fashion related, it is way more than that. For a while I had been looking for a way to be part of or contribute to an organization that encourages free trade or helps women earn wages in those parts of the world where this help is needed.

Well while I was browsing the internet for such an organization I came across Indego Africa. You can read all about what they do on their website, which is rather educational. They are a none for profit organization and I absolutely LOVE what they are trying to do. They educate women in Rwanda in literacy, business and more. They encourage these women to combine what they learn with their already existing talents of making handcrafted items such as jewelry and home decore items.

Many big name companies have collaborated with Indego Africa to sell these women's products, such as  Ralph Lauren and Anthropologie.

I was very excited when I found this website as it was exactly what I had been looking for, for a long time. But I found out that I cannot actually order anything from their online shop yet as they do not deliver to where I live yet.

I was very disappointed at the time, but then I kept browsing their website and came across a page where they mentioned other organizations and that is when I came across bluma project.

This is another organization with the same goals, where a group of ladies themselves travel to Africa and train women there how to make jewelry and then they bring the jewelry back to the U.S. to be sold. What was amazing was that their products can be purchased online on no other website than Shopbop!!

So I immediately put in an order, which was by no means large, but it was what I could offer at the time. Here is what I ordered:

I LOVE it and wear it everyday. As a bonus, it's in my favourite colour!
They have more items on the website so check them out!

Helping those in need is really not that hard when you think about it. A couple of months ago I decided that every month I would pick a charity or organization that I feel strongly about and will donate as much as I can. I have a couple of coffees a day so I have cut down on buying coffee and just make it at home and take it in a coffee mug to work and school. I have also cut down on other frivolities. Trust me it adds up!
While I think donating money is great, I really love organizations like the two I just mentioned, that try and set up long lasting business solutions.

All of the information above is from Indego Africa and bluma project websites, so check them out for precise details about the organizations and details of how you can help out!

Let me know of organizations you've heard of, are a part of or ones you just help.

"What wer are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But if that drop was not in the ocean, I think the ocean would be less because of that missing drop." - Mother Teresa

Have an amazing day :)

ps. Correction: I made a mistake, just realized that they do ship to Canada but will have to email them and ask them for a quote :) missed this the last time I was on their website!

All Stars!

Hello lovelies,

How is everyone doing? well I hope. Today I have a quick outfit post for you. I wore this outfit to go run some errands and do some shopping!
recently I have been reading about and researching Parabens and I have decided that I am going to start going Paraben free! I will do a post soon about all of this and share some information and products I have found. So check back for that if you're interested :)

Top: Forever21
Bandeau: Wilfred
Jean shorts: Abercrombie
Sunnies: Ray Ban Folding Wayfarer
Shoes: White All Stars
Purse: Coach Poppy collection (last year)

I put on a relaxed and casual outfit as it was super hot out and I wanted to be comfortable. So I took my new babies out today! My white All Stars which I mentioned in my last post :)

What do you think of this outfit?

Hope you're all having a beautiful day :)

Fall picks: Accessories and Shoes

Hello lovelies,
Hope you are all doing well. I am still very sick and that is why I have been a bit MIA. I am stuck inside my no outfit photos, I'm going crazy being inside all the time and since what I have is contagious I can't be around other people either. haha just realized that sounded a bit too scary I basically have a chest and ear infection, which also showed up in my eyes (pink eye is so not attractive)!
So I decided I would do a fall shopping list, since that is what I am hoping I will get to do sometime soon. It has actually really cooled down in Toronto, which I am not really liking but can't do anything about it.
I am going to divide the list into separate posts. Shoes and accessories first and then clothes!

1. Minnetonka Pull-on Fringe Booties
2. Converse Chuck Taylor All Star White
3. Nora Calf Hair Ballet Flats
4. H&M Tube Scarf
5. H&M 3-pack bracelet
6. ASOS Leather Mini Twist Lock Saddle Bag
7. H&M Bracelet
Some of these items I am buying for sure, like the white Converse shoes but others I am looking into buying similar items to, like the Nora ballet flats. As much as I am loving the leopard print at the moment I am not willing to pay $250 for a pair of flats at the moment! so if you know where I could find a pair for cheaper, let me know!
What are some items you are looking forward to for the Fall season?

Have a great Thursday :)

And one of us is gonna be runnin'

Hello lovelies,
How is everyone? well, I hope. I have some sort of a cold that is driving me crazy. Anyways, last Thursday I went out with one of my besties for the day! we had sushi and then watched Monte Carlo which was a very predictable, typically girly but very cute movie :)
Samantha if you're reading this I'm going to miss you and our sushi plus hot chocolate dates so much when you leave!

Dress: a boutique in New York
Sandals: Zara

I love this dress, it's makes me feel so girly when I wear it and yes I do twirl around in it like a little girl, I can't help myself haha.
I also really like the little detailing in the back, you can see that in the first photo!

wish you all an amazing Tuesday :)

Rain, I don't mind.

Hello lovelies,

How is everyone's Friday going? I seem to have got a little cold, hopefully it will be gone soon. I don't have much planned for this weekend and it is supposed to rain. So I was a bit inspired to do a rainy day outfit.

1. Tea & Tulips The finest hour dress
2. Motel Rocks Motel Agatha Cardi
3. Le Bunny Bleu Puddle Jump Rain Boots
5. totes-isotoner Clear Bubble Umbrella
6. A Girl's Next Best Friend Shuriken Satchel

On rainy days I'm usually not motivated to want to leave the house but if I was to dress in a cute and cozy outfit like this, that would totally make me want to be up and running.

Let me know what you think of this outfit!
Have an amazing Friday :)

Love at first sight!

Hello lovelies,

How is everyone's week so far? amazing I hope! So today I want to share with you one my absolutely favourite outfits of this summer. I mentioned this outfit here, but this time I wore it to a party on Sunday and was able to get some photos of it.
When I first saw this dress in H&M I fell in love instantly, but the price tag stopped me from buying it. A month later however when H&M was having their clearance sale which I tweeted about, I saw this little beauty for half the original price so I said you're coming home with me!  If you have been reading my blog for a while you will know that I LOVE bright colours, which would explain why I absolutely adore this dress.

Dress: H&M
Belt: Costa Blanca
Clutch: Aldo
Shoes: ZiGi NewYork

In the last photo with me is my beautiful mom. She made her whole outfit herself, well except for the shoes! You can see where I got my love of colour from haha.
(ps. please note the super wide smile in all the photos lol, that is how giddy that dress makes me when I put it on!)

Have a gorgeous day!
